Ken Ham is an Australian-born Christian apologist, educator, and young Earth creationist, renowned for his leadership in promoting a literal interpretation of the Bible’s Book of Genesis. He is the founder and CEO of Answers in Genesis (AiG), an apologetics organization committed to defending biblical creationism. Under his guidance, AiG has developed two major attractions in Kentucky: the Creation Museum, which opened in 2007, and the Ark Encounter, a life-sized Noah’s Ark replica that opened in 2016.
Ham’s career began as a science teacher in Australia, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science and a Diploma of Education. Influenced by the book The Genesis Flood, he moved to the U.S. and founded AiG in 1994 to provide resources that address questions surrounding Christianity, creation, and the age of the earth. He has authored numerous books, such as The Lie: Evolution, which critiques evolutionary theory from a creationist perspective.
Through AiG, Ham has become a prominent speaker on Christian issues, including biblical authority and social matters, often sparking debate. His 2014 debate with science educator Bill Nye drew wide attention and bolstered support for the Ark Encounter project. Today, Ham continues to advocate for biblical literalism, presenting the Genesis narrative as historical fact and a foundation for Christian doctrine.
